MSU Riley Center – Preservation Hall Jazz Band
The Preservation Hall Jazz Band has carried forward the torch of New Orleans music for more than 60 years. The musicians play not just jazz classics but also new music they’ve written in the same tradition. New Orleans has always been a place where sounds and cultures from around the world converge and mingle. The band has shared stages with everyone from Stevie Wonder and the Grateful Dead to Arcade Fire and The Black Keys. A 2015 trip to Cuba particularly got the musicians’ creative juices flowing. The mission remains the same: to pass on the traditions while continually revitalizing them with new blood and fresh ideas.
Tickets: $20 – $65
