Mourning Monday, a special one evening only presentation by funerary historian Erin Lybrand, is back by popular demand during Mourning at Merrehope that runs the full month of October. Young Ms. Lybrand specializes in the history and preservation of funeral procedures and traditions from the past. Her extensive collection of funeral memorabilia will also be on exhibit downstairs for that evening only. During the month of October, the second floor of the 20 room Neoclassical Revival Mansion is staged as a family living in the home during the Victorian period would have had it prepared for a period of grief. Come sample period correct funeral delicacies and be amazed by the traditions, superstitions, rituals and memorabilia. Be sure to wear black!
